The Big Read comes to Albany

I am forwarding this email from Howie Stoller, President of CANA. It contains an announcement that Albany won a grant to participate in the Big Read. The book chosen is The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien - originally published in 1990. In addition to the info to be found at the very bottom of the CANA website, I found a web page which explains the NEA sponsorship of the Big Read and contains links to more about this specific book:
we will be hearing more about this in the coming months. Happy Reading!

Dear Neighbors,

CANA has been asked to get help get the neighborhood associations
involved with the Big Read.  The Big Read is sponsored by the National
Endowment for the Arts  and encourages literacy by providing
opportunities for an entire community to read and discuss a single book.
This year the Albany Fund for Education, the City School District, and
Albany Public Library worked together and won a grant to bring the Big
Read to Albany. The goal is to have most of Albany reading and
discussion "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien during the month of
November. For more information on the Big Read, see zip file at the
bottom of the home page of the CANA web site:
