Meeting with Albany Police on communications Thurs Feb 9 at 7pm

Thursday February 9th
Room 105 Kahl Campus Center at Sage Albany
begins at 7:00pm

The Albany Police Department is implementing a system called nixle ( to bring communities within the city a more direct and faster way to communicate crime information, statistics and other items of interest. This is part of what the NIXLE program is about - a very safe and effective way of networking between law enforcement and the community. The police need the participation from everyone in the community to make this effective and beneficial.

Police Chief Krokoff was very impressed by the large number of residents who attended the meeting at the Hibernians this past summer in response to the two incidents on Oakwood St. and by the concerns expressed about the lack of information available to neighbors in the immediate aftermath of the incidents.  As a result, the New Scotland/Woodlawn and Helderberg neighborhoods will be the first to get the program.
Check out the website where you can see sample notifications.

The hour long meeting will be on Thursday February 9th   Room 105 Kahl Campus Center at Sage  beginning at 7:00pm.  Detective James Miller, APD Public Information Officer will explain the program and answer our questions. There is a parking lot off of Academy Rd. For a map to the Kahl Campus Center, (it is #2 on the map)

If you have immediate questions, contact

Neighborhood Police Officer
Loren E. Grugan
Upper New Scotland Ave /Woodlawn/ Heldeberg NA

Otherwise, lets show that we care about our own and our neighbors' safety and also help the APD determine whether this new system works for us and for the rest of the city.
